It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our former Executive Officer and dear friend Sophie Trevitt.
Sophie was a staunch ally and advocate in the fights for justice for First Nations People and throughout her career, dedicated herself to uplifting, supporting, amplifying and standing alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
Earlier this year Sophie’s efforts in campaigns to ban spit hoods, and raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility were recognised by the Voltaire Human Rights Award. But Soph was more than just her achievements, she was compassionate and silly, she always had time for long yarns about anything from politics to good hiking trips. She was a phenomenal friend, an amazing colleague, a hard worker and the fiercest ally. She will be greatly missed.
Change the Record Co-Chairs, Steering Committee and staff send our love and thoughts to Sophie’s partner Tom, their families and friends who are feeling her loss.
